The Apple MacBook Air - Efficiency And Simplicity

What fits into a manila folder, is thin enough to slide under a door, and can perform millions of calculations per second? It's the thinnest, and may we be bold enough to say so, sexiest laptop computer around today, the MacBook Air.

Looks aren't everything to everyone, however. Apple had many difficult decisions to make in order to create its most portable laptop ever. But is the air right for you? Does it meet the requirements of what you intend to use this laptop for? Many consumers have been asking themselves the same question.

The Apple MacBook Air was never intended to be the most powerful PC. In order to have such a beautiful and sleek design, some sacrifices has to be made. Don't let its beautiful looks fool you, the case is very well constructed as this is one of the MacBook's better features. It should hold up to years of abuse.

On the other hand, the power and speed of the MacBook isn't going to win any awards. But it is still truly Apple. You can tell how well constructed it is just by holding it in your hands.

The MacBook Air features a Core 2 Duo chip in new, specially designed package complete with a smaller than normal motherboard that helps to reduce its thickness. The LCD screen is backlit with LEDs (light emitting diodes), which saves battery, and allows the screen to be dimmed much lower than CCFL screens creating over 5 hours of battery life. This new LED monitor technology is a true revolution in display design.

It is Wireless N/B/G capable, with Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, and is available in two basic configurations: $1799 for a 1.6GHz chip, plus 2GB of RAM and a 80GBs 4200 RPM Drive.

For almost double the price at $3098, you can get a 1.8GHz chip with the same 2GB of RAM and a 64GB solid state drive module that, like all SSD, is extremely shock resistant. The solid state drive module is another huge leap forward in data storage technologies.

There is no Ethernet port, but you can use the optional USB to Ethernet jack to connect to the internet if Wireless is not available.

The MacBook Air isn't going to win any performance awards for speed and storage capability, but that wasn't Apple's intention. It does, however, provide huge advances in battery life as well display and data storage technologies. I am sure the MacBook Air will become known as a very reliable and portable machine. After all, its still an Apple.

You can get an Apple MacBook Air Free! Many distributors are giving away MacBook Airs as part of their promotions.

Claim Your Free MacBook Air!
